News-2006-I have some new work appearing at Craft ACT from 26 May - 2 July in Traditions and Departures: highlighting Japanese Influences in Australian craft and design for the 2006 Year of Exchange between Australia and Japan. Otakulture comes to Sydney 11 - 25 May at Medium Rare, Redfern. I will be giving an artist talk with Queenie Chan at the gallery on Saturday 13 May at 12pm.

Electrofringe2004 is in Newcastle from 30 Sept - 4 October 2004. karakuri.info materials requested by the IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) for reference and distribution during the 2004 International Conference on Organic Synthesis (ICOS-15) 'karakuri' solo exhibition held in conjunction with the 2004 Next Wave Festival, at Stairwell project @ North Melbourne Town Hall Artshouse Stairwell project exhibiting space is proudly supported by the City of Melbourne. Stairwell is a North Arts Project. I also hosted a Robot Culture forum with panelists Dr. Eiichi Tosaki and Dr. Brigid Magner @ Next Wave Festival Club. I discussed Karakuri and Japan's love of robots (=robot culture!) karakuri.info has been accepted into the JAVA-Joint Advanced Virtual Affairs Museum project of Netart from Asian/Pacific area which will be launched on occasion of the Thailand New Media Art Festival, with further showcases touring internationally.. -2003-karakuri.info featured in the AI Lectures from Tokyo, "a global teaching project in modern artificial intelligence" based at the University of Tokyo, which also involves students in Beijing, Munich, Warsaw and Zurich. karakuri.info was discussed during lecture 3 of the series - "Embodied Intelligence: Basics". There's mention of my travel to Japan to learn about Karakuri in RealTime and OnScreen (issue 57) 2003. NewType-USA November 2003 edition has a short piece about my exhibition and Karakuri work - "Venerable Traditions and Modern Masters" by Cefn Ridout. I was also interviewed at my 'karakuri.info' exhibition for an upcoming series "Smart Societies" which will be broadcast in 2004 on Go Asia Pacific. I had a solo exhibition 'karakuri.info' at West Space (1st Floor, 15-19 Anthony Street, Melbourne) from the 24 October - 8 November 2003. I did and artist talk at the gallery about Karakuri on Thursday October 30 at 6pm.
